Women with regular cycles will notice this type of egg white cervical mucus for around two to three days of each menstruation cycle.
Egg White Cervical Mucus is a Sign of Ovulation
At the time of ovulation, the consistency of your discharge changes in order to augment your fertility. The egg white consistency of your discharge enables sperm to travel more easily through your cervix and into your womb. It also allows sperm to stay alive for longer. Which means that your egg white discharge is part of your fertility.
What Causes Egg White Cervical Mucus?
The estrogen hormone is responsible for triggering the production of egg white discharge. After your period has stopped, estrogen increases gradually. Estrogen supports the growth of your eggs and thickening of your uterine lining. When estrogen levels peak, your body creates egg white discharge and you egg is released.
